My bike had an external oil filter mount when I got it, so I've been using an auto type filter at the local parts store. After studying the oil filter cross reference for a while, I found that one of their better filters is a Purolator Pure One PL10241 which should match the size and thread type that I need. Got 4 of them from Amazon.com for $19 plus shipping, so I thought that was a decent deal. The cheesey local filters are about $7 a pop from the parts store. Now I just need to change the oil. Got a friend that's an Amsoil dealer now, maybe by the end of the year I'll spring for some 20w-50.

Looks like an aftermarket automotive type filter mount that came with the bike. Here is a pic of it after I painted and mounted it, the last pic is when I removed it for the rebuild and noticed the casting residue almost completely filled in the hole! Drilled it out and hopefully it will flow better. Never experienced any real "problems" but I can't imagine oil flow with 60wt would be very good on a cold start.

Inspect these things before putting them on!
