Took the new build out last Saturday to get some gas and ride around the block to see how things were and the rear wheel locked up on me. Fortunately I could tell something was wrong and slowed almost to a stop before it locked. Rear caliper was smoking and the pedal would not move. Drained some fluid out of the caliper and it freed up a bit till I could ride. Did it again later and thought it was some left over paint keeping the caliper from floating a little, causing the pad to rub and then overheat the caliper, fluid expanded and the piston locked it up. Well, today I took it over to the Indy that built the motor to let him admire his handy work and it locked up again. When I got to his shop he asked how much free play was in the pedal and there was none. Basically I moved the stopper plate to get some free play because the way I had it, the pedal was partially depressed causing it to lock up eventually. I'll remember this for future reference! _________________ Whatever it is, it's better in the wind. |
